Woah hi welcome to the first playlist update hosted on the blog instead of Twitter. The goal for these semi-regular posts is to highlight tracks that have recently been added to the indieAnthro playlist (formerly 'Intro to Furry Music'). This list isn't exhaustive, so be sure to check out the playlist for more of the latest furry indie - and support these artists directly where/if you can! <3 Spotify streaming payouts are absolute garbage.

"She Rained Down" - This Is The Glasshouse [rock] **

A surprise streaming-only single from This is the Glasshouse to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of his chamber pop opus As Small As Ants. This new recording features driving electronic drums and guitar in contrast to the heavier orchestration of the original. If this is a sign of things to come for the future of the band, I’m very much looking forward to it.

This is where I would say that it’s available on Bandcamp, but it’s not! You can still purchase As Small As Ants on Bandcamp, however.

"Lakefront" - Meikurey [electronic, pop]

Beautiful cheap keyboards and vocal sampling abound in this delightful track from Meikurey. This appears to be a slightly modified/extended version of the same track from her earlier single, which dropped late last year via Aural Alliance. I’m happy it found its way onto her latest album Caretaker, which I’d also recommend checking out.

You can purchase Caretaker on Bandcamp.

"enby" - fauxx [electronic, pop]

I woke up to a DM from a friend telling me that I needed to check it out "enby" and add it to the playlist the morning it dropped. Probably my favorite fauxx release so far. These lyrics resonate with me a ton as a non-binary person, and fauxx’s laidback production shines as always.

You can purchase "enby" on Bandcamp and check out the accompanying music video on YouTube

"Need You" - Zenny [r&b, rock]

Zenny’s vocals shine here, complemented by the noisy, playful, electric guitar heavy beat by xandroR2. Zenny has a knack for love songs, and this one is no exception. We patiently await the debut EP. <3

"Need You" is, as far as I can tell, not available on Bandcamp. Check it out on streaming and Soundcloud!

"The Greatest Showman" - Furry Loser [rock, folk] **

"The Greatest Showman" from singer-songwriter Ed St. Clair is a personal one as well as the final single release before the next Furry Loser album, Painting Clouds and Mountaintops.

Fuzzy organ pads and clicky clack percussion drive the track forward through verses describing incredibly Dad-like idiosyncrasies ("My old man cooks his spaghetti with cinnamon toast crunch / And he doesn’t give a crap, My old man says to random people on the street, “come to my house” / And that often worries me”).

The single also includes a b-side - a new recording of a Furry Loser classic “In the Land of Funny Animals”, featuring vocals from Scurrow (I’ve Made Too Much Pasta). You can purchase the latest single on Bandcamp.

"FERAL" - Mek-9 [electronic, pop]

"FERAL" is the final track off of Mek-9’s latest record MAW OFF, an incredibly eclectic mix of industrial, jungle, hyperpop, and emo. My personal favorite from the record given its anthemic, distorted chorus and ever evolving production. Music to wag and bite to.

"FERAL" is available on Bandcamp and streaming services.

"Part of Me" - Patient Animal [rock]

Really solid emo rock track from a band that I, admittedly, don’t know much about. Angst and animal imagery abound (“So I chase my tail / And run around in circles ’til I’m dead”). After this track and their earlier single “Haze”, I’m definitely looking forward to whatever comes next.

"Part of Me" is available on Bandcamp and streaming services.

"gen3mlp" - lulamoon, robin’s ghost [hip hop]

Rapper/producer lulamoon (fka Cake!) has been on my radar since earlier this year, and I’ve been obsessed with their music ever since. This track off of opal, her latest record (which you should also definitely check out), is a highlight and features a guest verse from fellow Limewire Exclusive member robin’s ghost.

"gen3mlp" is available on Bandcamp and streaming services.
